Behind the camera

Close to the subject. Honest to the story.

With more than a decade of experience, I’m Ivan Batara, a documentary filmmaker and videographer based in Indonesia, focused on human stories, nature, conservation, and social change.

My approach combines observation, thoughtful interviews, and cinematic field imagery. I work with a small footprint, adapt to changing conditions, and follow the story from early development through final delivery.

I’m most at home working in the field—where access is limited, conditions change quickly, and trust matters as much as the image.
